5 Reminders to Help Motivate You

We all have those days where we just don’t want to get out of bed in the morning and need a reminder of why we do the things that we do. Here are five of my favorites that do just the trick and remind me to make the most of the time I have.

Life is moving on with or without you. It’s so easy to let fear paralyze us. Whenever I find myself letting fear get in the way, I remind myself about the brevity of life. Then I pose this question to myself: am I more afraid of whatever this thing is or am I more afraid of regretting never having done it? Almost every time I come to the same conclusion.

My biggest regrets have come from missed opportunities. This is what I remind myself whenever I come across one of these new opportunities. Thankfully we can always create new opportunities by taking action, but we can never get back the opportunities that we let slip by. Those are some of my biggest regrets. I failed to capitalize on opportunities because I was afraid. But now I use these memories to remind myself not to let it happen again. Carpe diem (Latin for seize the day).

Take responsibility for everything in your life. Nobody is ever going to care about your situation or your problems as much as you should. If you’re unhappy with your situation, skill-set, or relationships; do something about it! If there are things that you want to change, focus on what you can do to change them. If you want something badly enough, you’ll find a way to do it.

Not only is change is possible, it’s inevitable. Time and change are two constants in life. For better or worse, nothing stays the same and time continues to press on. So if change is perpetually happening anyway, why not try to use that to our benefit? It’s never too late to change – it’s happening anyway.

Nobody owes you anything. Earn the things you want. Learn the rules and win the game. Or create a game of your own. All that matters is that you remember that nobody owes you anything. Get in line and work for it like everyone else. You’re not special.

Take risks, have fun, and do things that scare you. We only get one crack at life, so we better make it count.

“The world is nothing but change.  Our life is only perception.” -Marcus Aurelius

  1. Even my biggest regrets have come from missed opportunities and not believing myself that I could pursue them.

  2. Well written and straight to the point! I love that I’ve found a positive community online… I never really got into blogging before getting laid off because of the virus. I am starting to realize how stressed out and unhappy I was, and that life is too short to suffer through that. I can’t believe how much more creative I feel now that I have so much time to think about what I want to do. It’s so important to do what makes you happy!!!
